Maclellan Island Eco Tours offer a guided experience from downtown Chattanooga to one of the Tennessee River’s most remarkable hidden natural areas. Guests will travel by boat to Maclellan Island, where a knowledgeable guide will provide interpretation both en route and on-site. The tour will highlight the island’s history, native plants, and wildlife, as well as ongoing conservation efforts led by the Chattanooga Audubon Society. Guests will learn about invasive species management and the significant erosion challenges affecting the island’s long-term stability. These eco tours are a featured experience which includes a visit with the island’s beloved resident goats and their guardian dog, illustrating their important role in vegetation management. Guests should wear appropriate footwear and bring plenty of water. The walk on the island is approximately one mile over dirt paths. Restrooms are available on the boat or at composting toilets on the island.

Each tour will depart from 151 Riverfront Parkway Parkway Chattanooga TN 37402 at 12 pm, with a return time of 2 pm.
