✨🧚‍♂️May 23rd-24th 2026 🧚‍♀️✨

2026 Fairy House Competition Information

Get ready to unleash your creativity and imagination in this magical event! Here are some guidelines to help you create the most enchanting fairy abode:

🍄Choose Your Materials: Gather natural materials such as twigs, leaves, flowers, pebbles, and moss from the forest. Glue can be used, but other non-compostable materials such as glitter, plastic, and metal may not be used.

🌿Design with Delight: Let your imagination soar as you design your fairy house. Think tiny windows adorned with delicate petals, miniature furniture crafted from acorns, and whimsical pathways made of tiny stones. Include cozy bedrooms with soft moss beds, inviting living areas with tiny fireplaces, miniature fairy gardens filled with tiny plants, or even a tiny mailbox for fairy mail.

🌸Respect Nature: Remember to leave no trace! As you construct your fairy house, be gentle with nature. Avoid harming plants or disturbing the habitat of woodland creatures.

✨ Have Fun: Most importantly, have fun and let your creativity shine! This competition is all about celebrating the magic of imagination and the beauty of nature. May the most enchanting fairy house win! Good luck, and may the fairies bless your creations with their sparkle and charm!

Please note: Workshop building classes will not be available for 2026.

The fine print:

  • We have an adult category and a children's category. We will have prizes for the top 3 fairy houses in each category. The fairy house with the most votes overall will win TBD
  • Voting occurs during the both days of the festival and houses are voted on by the attendees of the festival.
  • Winners of the festival will be announced at the conclusion of the festival. Prizes will be distributed afterwards.
  • Your fairy house structure will be installed by you on Audubon Acres Wonderland trail between May 16 and May 22nd during the hours of 10am and 4pm.
  • Fairy Houses need to be installed by May 22rd.
  • When you arrive with your creation, please check in with our Visitor Center Staff.
  • You are required to find an open site along the Wonderland Trail to install your piece. Your site may be reserved in advance if you would like to walk the trail prior to Friday and select your site. It is first come first serve to fill the available sites along the trail.
  • If you are unable to install your fairy house during this drop-off time, please contact us to make other arrangements.
  • If your house does not win first place, you may return May 28th-June 1st to collect your fairy house exhibit or anytime that next week during operating hours. All fairy houses must be collected by June 8th.
