Mushroom Foraging 101
Always wanted to learn how to forage for mushrooms? We've got the class for you! Ryan Marr from Willow Crest Farm and Primitive Survival School will be at Audubon Acres teaching folks the ins and outs of hunting for mushrooms. During this 2-2.5-hour long class, you’ll wander our trails learning to identify common wild, edible, and medicinal mushrooms. You will begin to become familiar with their uses and any dangerous look-alikes, and you may get to taste them depending on what we find! Additionally, you’ll go home with some literature to help you remember everything that you learned.
These courses can be taken as stand-alone classes or take all 3 to see all of Audubon Acres’ seasonal mushrooms. Jackie, also from Willow Crest Farms, will be teaching her classes at 2pm on the same day! The classes are Medicinal Salve Making on July 22nd and How to Make Cherry Bark Cough Syrup on November 4th. If you'd like to take both Mushroom Foraging and one of these classes, feel free to bring a sack lunch to enjoy at our picnic tables. Please dress weather appropriately, as this class will be outside rain or shine. If the weather is nice, we recommend you bring a sack lunch to enjoy after class at our outdoor picnic tables. Classes are on September 16th, October 8th, October 22nd and November 4th at 11am. Member tickets are $35 and non-member tickets are $40. Spots are limited for this class, so register before they fill up! This class has a minimum of 15 students and will be cancelled should we not reach the minimum.
