NATURE DETECTIVE SERIES!!

Let your child's curiosity and observation skills emerge in our Nature Detective series! This experiential play day will encourage your child to ask questions about the natural world around them. Through the power of observation, hands-on activities and science experiments led by nature enthusiasts, we will quest to find the answers to some of your child's questions.

Part 1 will focus on Mammals and Birds. Why do birds sing songs? How do squirrels make their nests? What happens to the feathers birds lose? We will use our senses to gain insight and through guided activities, encourage explorers to uncover the answers. Each class includes age appropriate activities, crafts and a healthy dose of the outdoors!

Part 2 will focus on Plants and Insects. How many insects can we find in different habitats? Why are some colorful but others camouflaged? If plants need sunlight, how do the small ones survive in the shade? We will use our senses to gain insight and through guided activities, encourage explorers to uncover the answers. Each class includes age appropriate activities, crafts and a healthy dose of the outdoors!
Presenter: Courtney Parker is a horticultural and agricultural professional based in Chattanooga,TN. She has an intense curiosity for the natural world and enjoys facilitating experiences for others to develop their own relationship with the world around them. She has led medicinal garden tours, a garden club at a rehabilitation facility and been involved with volunteer organizations dedicated to food justice, environmental responsibility and community engagement. In addition, she has a very curious 6 year old who inspires her to keep asking questions and finding answers.
